The Art of Distraction

Day to day , week to week we all have not-fun tasks, whether it’s related to work, home or family.

That wall of resistance or the art of distraction can get the better of you.

Where instead of cleaning your fridge you decide to plant new flowers in your garden. Or maybe you send an email to that old family member.

Or maybe that dreaded tax return deadline you decide to pull out old photos and organize them.

We are all guilty of different forms of procrastination and avoidance.

The key is being aware , acknowledging and accepting as the urge of distraction and avoidance comes up .

Ask yourself:

What things have to be done today?

What things would be a really powerful use of my day?

Giving yourself permission to unpack the tasks on your to-do list.

Where you make time to complete one task by breaking it down into multiple small tasks.

Maybe creating one reward after the multiple tasks are completed such as a really good cup of coffee or tea from your favourite coffee place down the street.

Here is another suggestion being mindful , being grateful for that particular task and focus on that one thing on hand . Breathe and be present,

an accountability partner can be useful if you are struggling .

Think about it’s an opportunity to serve people you care about, an opportunity to play and be curious, to learn and find joy and delight in all that you do!

I hope you found this helpful!

Take care my lovelies
